This Friday, 8 March, ONE Championship will return to Yangon, Myanmar and once again showcase some of the best martial artists in the world, including Ren Saroth’s tenth professional mixed martial arts bout.
ONE: REIGN OF VALOR will take place in the famous Thuwunna Indoor Stadium, and as always, you can expect a buzzing crowd when the ONE Championship stars enter the stage.
Here are three reasons why Cambodia cannot miss this weekend’s action-packed card.
#1. Ren Saroth’s Anticipated Return
Cambodian Top Team’s stand-out star Ren Saroth will be representing “The Kingdom of Wonder” as he is set to clash with promotional debutant Tial “The Dragon Leg” Thang on the main card.
Regarded as one of Cambodia’s most promising mixed martial artists, Saroth is eager to showcase what he has been working on since his last ONE Championship outing.
Staying active on the local Kun Khmer scene, Saroth has moved the latter part of his training camp to Yorky Mixed Martial Arts in Bangkok, and the results have been remarkable.
“I feel very different in terms of taking charge of a fight,” Saroth says.
“My attacks and overall defense are so much quicker and better. I’m ready to show what I’ve got!”
His opponent Thang is a four-time Chin State Wrestling Champion and will have the full support of the home crowd as he will square off against Saroth in an anticipated 68-kilogram catchweight bout.
#2. A ONE Welterweight World Title Bout
ONE Welterweight World Champion Zebaztian “The Bandit” Kadestam will put his title on the line in evening’s main event as he is set to clash with grappling sensation Georgiy “Knight” Kichigin.
It will be the first title defense for the Swedish powerhouse, and a tough test in front of the Burmese crowd as his opponent Kichigin never has tasted defeat in his professional career and is on an intimidating 14-bout win streak.
Who will wear the ONE Welterweight World Championship belt around their waist when the evening’s over?
On Friday we will find out!
#3. An Explosive Heavyweight Clash
It is hard to imagine a more charged encounter than the one between Alain “The Panther” Ngalani and the former Cage Warriors Heavyweight Champion Mauro “The Hammer” Cerilli.
The Cameroon native Ngalani embodies the kill-or-be-killed mindset and has only gone the distance once in his professional mixed martial arts career.
Italian pride Cerilli made his ONE Championship debut in late November against Brandon Vera and had his five-bout win streak snapped, and is now looking to prove that he has what it takes to make it in the world’s largest martial art organization.
Make sure you don’t blink when these two talented heavy-hitters enter the cage!
